2008 Maryland Crab Bowl

Maryland High School Football Huddle

The Washington, DC all-stars beat the Baltimore All-Stars 32-21 in the first-ever Maryland Crab Bowl at Towson Univeristy's Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Dunbar running back Tavon Austin was named the game's MVP with 220 all-purpose yards...105 yards receving (one TD), 98 yards in kickoff returns (one TD) and 17 yards rushing.

Lake Wilde's postseason experience continues to pay-off as the five-time Maryland state champs find themselves back in the state semifinals. The sixth-seeded Wildecats beat Fallston 39-15 Friday night to win the 3A East Regional title to advance to the school's eighth semifinal contest. Click here for game story.

Officials Announce A New High School Football All-Star Game in Maryland

For the first time since 2004, there will be a statewide high school football all-star game in Maryland.

The Maryland Crab Bowl will be played December 20th at Johnny Unitas Stadium at Towson University. The game will feature the state's top 90 seniors from public and private schools being split into two teams..the Baltimore regional team and the Washington DC regional team.

The DC regional team, which will be coached by Quince Orachard head coach Dave Mencarini, will include players from Montgomery, Prince George's, Calvert, St. Mary's and Charles counties. Dunbar head coach Lawrence Smith will be the leader of the Baltimore team, which will be made-up of players from Anne Arundel, Howard, Baltimore, Frederick, Washington, Alleghany, Cecil, Harford, Carroll and Garrett counties.

Here are the players selected for the Baltimore team, the DC players will be announced later this week.
